What Do I Do?

I work full time for a manufacturer of building construction materials. I manage our email marketing campaigns, social media calendar, produce industrial videos, write press releases, and various other marketing tasks. This variety keeps me busy, and I find the work very rewarding.

When I’m doing my job right, a contractor will become so intrigued by a product of ours that he asks his distributor for a quote. And then, hopefully, purchases said product in large quantities. This is what we call “pull-through”, because it practically “forces” the distributor to sell our product over a competitor.

This blog was originally started for the sole purpose of keeping track of the little marketing “lessons” I Iearn as an eBusiness Marketer honing his craft. If you are a B2B Marketing professional, I hope you find a “few shortcuts” around the bumps in the road in you advertising, and career.*

These “lessons” are often learned IRL (in real life) from seemingly routine life experiences (trips to the dentist, DMV, or interactions at work or networking events). Sometimes, they’re learned from inspiring books or articles I’ve read. I will always try to give credit to authors and marketing gurus whose ideas and theories I cite.

*This blog does not offer professional advice services.

My Core Values when Marketing a Product or Service:

  1. Never try to sell a product I don’t 100% believe in.
  2. Research the hell out of the product.
  3. Try my damned-est to sell my excitement for the product. Never bore the reader.
  4. Never lie or purposely deceive to sell the product.

Some People I Follow:

Neville Medhora: his emails really helped me in the early years. I should probably take his course at some point. Get on his email list: https://kopywritingkourse.com/

Ben Settle: self proclaimed “slacker” email coach. I buy one of his $20-$40 info products from him from time to time. He also has a print Newsletter for $90/month. https://bensettle.com/v3/

Bob Bly: copywriter all B2B marketers need to follow. Get on his email list: https://www.bly.com/
